VIVAnews - The dispute in Thailand is escalating and has caused 30 people to die. The Functional Group (Golkar) Party viewed that the conflict may affect the stability in the Asean region.
Given the situation, the Golkar Party faction in the House of Representatives (DPR) responded over the conflict in the neighboring country.
"Without having any intention to intervene in Thai's domestic affairs, the Golkar Party faction in DPR Commission I urges the Indonesian government to become the facilitator and mediator [in a meeting]," said Deputy Head of Commission I of Golkar Party faction, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, today, May 18.
The participation is aimed at solving the crisis, said Agus Gumiwang, especially in enabling dialogues between the conflicting parties.
This country, he said, has many experienced figures in conflict handling. "Jusuf Kalla is one of them," said Agus.
Former Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla is capable of dealing with crucial domestic affairs such as Ambon and Poso conflicts. He even played an important role in mediating the prolonged frictions between Indonesian government and the Free Acheh Movement.
He expected the government has called on the Thai government to accept the mediation proposal.
